I wanted a place to share Apple's journey in FFXIV, so have started putting together a carrd for her.I'll mostly be sharing gposes, little lore tidbits, and commissioned art!! A princess of the Kingdom of Nhalmasque, the first nation conquered by the Garlemald Empire. Taken as a ward at seven years of age, she was kept in the confines of the capital, under the guardianship of Gaius van Baelsar.During her years in Garlemald, she spent her years learning magic from dusty tomes and whispered lessons from other foreigners, as well as a small gaggle of Moogles who had made their home in the North, unseen by the Garlemalds due to their predisposition to aetherial manipulation.Still a princess, Apple attended balls and galas, feasts and festivals. She became a beloved figure, with the expectation that she one day be wed to the Crown Prince; Although the Empire had already conquered her kingdom some 60 years ago, a wedding between the two families would legitimise their claim and give the Empire complete power over the north.Wishing for nothing more than to see her family once more, Apple complied with the Empire’s demands, hoping that with the status and power it afforded her, she could begin to mend the damage her people had suffered.As the years passed, Apple grew stronger not only in magick, but in status - claiming her place in the royal court. By 1572 Apple had woven herself into the very fabric of noble society - and because of this, she became witness to Emperor Solus granting Nael van Darnus the go-ahead for Project Meteor to be used to annihilate Eorzea.No longer a child, Apple couldn’t bear to let the Empire continue with their bloodshed.

She pleaded with Gaius, desperate for a way to stop their plans for genocide. Sympathetic to her plight, Gaius entrusted Apple with the schematics for the magitek used in Project Meteor, bidding her to go to Eorzea and find Cid Garlond. He warned her that if she left, she would be considered a deserter by the Empire and hunted down. Understanding the risks, and knowing full well that doing this meant she would likely never see her family or her home again, she departed for Eorzea.Apple barely remembers the Battle of Carteneau - she knows they stopped Nael van Darnus, but it wasn't enough to stop Dalamud from falling. She remembers the Elder Primal Bahamut being summoned, and how he tore himself free from his crimson prison. But she doesn’t remember how she survived, or the outcome of the battle.She would come to know, of course, that because of the Archon Louisoix, Apple - like the other heroes bearing Hydaelyn’s blessing - was spared the Primal’s devastation. She was sent into an aetherial rift, kept untouched by the seasons for five years in the light of the mothercrystal, until it was safe again to emerge and continue their struggle to forge Eorzea’s future.Thus, our hero’s journey starts anew, in a realm that has been reborn. Thought dead by the Garlean Empire, she finally has a chance to regain her freedom and to stop the Empire for good. Will she be able to heal the scars inflicted upon Etheirys and her homeland?And, perhaps more importantly, will she be able to carry the light of the mothercrystal, who's voice is only getting louder with each passing day?

headcanon one. There are many moogles in Garlemald, but due to the Garlemald's genetic disposition to aether, Apple is one of the very few that can see them. They kept Apple company throughout her years in the Capital, and helped with her magic training.headcanon two. When Apple reached the age of 10, she was bethrothed to the crown prince, Zenos yae Galvus. The two had only seen each other on occassion, but the match was decided for them by those in power. Although she had no love for the prince, Apple knew that if she was to ever broker peace between her Kingdom and the Empire, she would have to fulfil her duty, and so she resigned herself to fate. The two never met again until the events of Stormblood.
headcanon three. It took many moons for Apple to feel safe around Gaius, but throughout the years he continued to treat her as his own daughter, pushing her to become stronger and smarter. Although Apple resents him for his contribution to the Empire, she came to recognise his more forward-thinking ways than other Garlemald's in power, and believed that he could do good despite his crimes.headcanon four. Apple was very close to Gaius' other wards growing up, particularly Cid Garlond. They attended school together, and he was a contributing factor to Apple's love for the people of Garlemald.

When necessary, Apple has been capable of immense power to defeat her enemies.
Apple is able to cast spells with just the use of her hands. However, for more powerful magic or when she is low on aether, and just for comfort in general, she enlists the aid of her beloved staff - Claire De Lune - a weapon she has used for as long as she can remember, and has the memories of her battles carved into its very core.
